The Turkish president is once again “hiding” behind his government partner and the propaganda mechanisms he has set up to support his government, without “coming forward himself”, despite the gauntlet that the Greek prime minister publicly threw at him to answer for Bakhteli delirium.

Athens is sending a new message to Ankara that Greece is not going to retreat from the defense of its sovereign rights, at a time when Turkish propaganda and provocation are coming back to the fore, opening a new round of tension.
“Greece is not intimidated. It respects and acts on the basis of International Law. It does not seek or cause tensions, but at the same time it does not give in to national rights in the slightest” is Greece’s clear message, as reported by government sources, against the new escalation of Turkish provocation and propaganda against the country.
A propaganda that, in addition to the officials of the ErdoÄŸan government, is also supported and promoted by the Turkish media, exceeding every limit. After his historical delirium Devlet Bakhceliwho presented a map with half of the Aegean and Crete to belong to Turkey, the Turkish network TR Haber continued its ahistorical and highly provocative propaganda, claiming that 3/4 of Crete belongs to Turkey and that only the prefecture of Chania is Greek.
The website hosts the views of the former Secretary General of the Ministry of Defence, retired officer and geopolitical-military analyst Gyumit yalim, who first formulated the narrative of Greece’s “illegal” occupation of 3/4 of Crete, while adding that Crete, one of the islands whose legal status remained in limbo for a century after the war, never belonged on paper in Greece. “There is no official agreement that Athens owns this whole island,” he points out. Loyal to the Turks’ favorite tactic of misinterpreting, ripping up and using at will treaties and historical documents in order to support their illegal, ahistorical and outrageous claims.
In any case, just like the behavior of the extreme nationalist partner of Tayyip Erdogan, Devlet Bakhceli, but also every propagandistic support mechanism of the collapsing Turkish government, fully justify the Greek argumentation and choice, for Greece to proceed unwaveringly on the basis of International Law and to internationalize the Turkish provocative outbursts at every opportunity. After all, every new provocation and attack against Greece and our sovereign rights, remind and reaffirm the sharpness of Turkish provocation, the revisionism that characterizes it – at a time when the questioning of internationally recognized borders and legitimacy is openly disapproved by the European Union and NATO – but also the importance of the right to self-defense, especially at the moment when Ankara formulates the innovative, bold argument that the alleged “militarization” of islands constitutes a cause for questioning Greek sovereignty.
At the moment, however, the Turkish president is once again “hiding” behind his government partner and the propaganda mechanisms he has set up to support his government, without “coming forward himself”, despite the gauntlet he publicly threw down the Greek prime minister to answer for the Bakhteli delirium.
With his post, o Kyriakos Mitsotakis asks Tayyip ErdoÄŸan to clarify if the map displayed and photographed with him by his government partner is “Ankara’s official policy” or if it is another provocation.
More specifically, in his post in English, Mr. Mitsotakis states the following: “Take a good look at this map. Crete, Rhodes, Lesvos, Chios, Samos are being “swallowed” by Turkey. Delusion of extremists or official policy of Turkey ? Another provocation or a real goal? President Erdogan needs to make his position clear on his coalition partner’s latest antics.”
