Tourism Minister Vassilis Kikilias started his tour of Crete from Heraklion.
From Heraklion the Minister of Tourism started his tour of Crete Vassilis Kikiliaswho once again expressed confidence that the current tourist season will be one of the most dynamic, adding that it is not only the record that matters, but “let’s manage to put into practice what the prime minister has said, 12-month tourism in Crete”.
Mr. Kikilias met with the mayor and officials of the Municipality of Hersonissos, focusing on the targeting for the future regarding the extension of the tourist season, but also the synergies – as he pointed out – between local government and private individuals. As Mr. Kikilias said, the tourism product should be extended to 12 months a year, on a “quality services provided, which must also be supported by the corresponding infrastructures”pointing out in this direction, the necessity to advance the local urban plans.
The Minister of Tourism, accompanied by the CG of the EOT Dimitris Fragakis, the MP of Heraklion of the ND Maximos Senetakis and local party officials, visited the Peskesi Farm, an innovative unit that was created 23 years ago and in which its founder produces horticulture, olives , herbs, olive oil, honey, without using fertilizers and pesticides, while also raising domestic animals which live freely and are the main factor in the biodynamic cultivation that is carried out.
Mr. Kikilias congratulated the creator of the estate, Panagiotis Magganas, pointing out that such initiatives highlight the comparative advantages of the place, “they show the passion of the Greek and his ingenuity”adding that in this way the connection of the primary sector with trade and tourism is achieved.
At 7:00 in the afternoon, Mr. Kikilias will participate in a meeting at the Chamber of Heraklion with institutional bodies, such as the regional governor, the mayor of Heraklion, hoteliers, tourist agents, executives of the chamber and the Heraklion Port Organization.
Tomorrow Thursday, Mr. Kikilias will visit and make contacts in Agios Nikolaos and Elounda, while he will continue his tour in Crete, visiting Rethymno and Chania.
