The Deputy Minister of National Defense Mr. Nikolaos Hardaliasin the context of his two-day presence in Kastellorizo ​​for his participation in the conference of the World Inter-Parliamentary Union of Hellenism, he visited Units of the Army and the Navy, accompanied by the Commander of the Supreme Military Command of the Interior & Islands Lieutenant General Dimitrios Houpis.

Yesterday, Thursday, July 21, 2022, TPC DANIOLOS was visited, where a briefing was held by Governor Admiral Nikolaos Greka PN and guided tour of the main compartments of the ship.

Today, Friday, July 22, he went to the headquarters of the Defense Command of the Island of Megistis, where he was informed by its Commander, Colonel Vasilios Mizios, about the current operational and educational activities of the Administration and spoke with the executives and the military personnel. He was also briefed and inspected the progress of the work on the construction of the new building for staff accommodation.

Additionally, the Deputy Minister of National Defense Mr. Nikolaos Hardalias and the CEO of the Hellenic Electricity Distribution Network Operator (D.E.D.D.H.E.) Mr. Anastasios Manos inspected and delivered for use yesterday, Thursday, July 21, 2022, installation of a status converter (converter) for the benefit of the Navy in the port of Kastellorizos.

This important infrastructure project, which will fully cover the electricity needs of the Navy ships during their docking, was carried out at the initiative of the political leadership of the Ministry of National Defense, in close cooperation with the D.E.D.D.H.E. . and the contribution of the South Aegean Region and the Municipality of Megistis. It is a project that contributes, on the one hand, to increasing the operational capabilities of the Navy to support operations in the wider area of ​​the Eastern Mediterranean, Crete and the Eastern Aegean, and on the other hand, to reducing environmental noise, as well as the environmental footprint on the island.

Present were the mandated Regional Councilor for Education of the South Aegean Region, Mr. Christos Bardos as the representative of the South Aegean Region Governor, the Mayor of Megistis, Mr. Georgios Sampsakos, the Commander-in-Chief of the Fleet Headquarters, Admiral Christos Degiannis PN, the Commander of the DAN, Colonel Vasilios Mitsios, the Governor of TPC DANIOLOS Pilot Nikolaos Grekas PN, a delegation of executives of the Armed Forces, as well as the D.E.D.D.H.E.
