“His example inspires and should inspire the New Democracy,” says the Minister of Labor and Social Affairs on his personal Facebook account
“He accepted chaos, he made a state. It was not only the slogan of Karamanlis and New Democracy for the Post-Republic. It was the reality! On this day, 48 years ago (July 24, 1974), Konstantinos Karamanlis was returning from Paris, after 11 years of self-exile and in the shadow of the Cyprus tragedy, to save what could be saved”, says the Minister of Labor and Social Affairs , Kostis Hatzidakisin a post on his personal Facebook account.
As he points out, “what he achieved became an object of admiration in Greece and abroad. He restored democracy in an exemplary manner. He included Greece in the EEC much earlier than Spain and Portugal and he politicized with seriousness, with responsibility, with a Doric style and without a trace of demagoguery.
“His example inspires and should inspire New Democracy, but it is a point of reference for every Greek man and woman who detest extremism and populism and envision a modern, democratic and European Greece,” notes Mr. Hatzidakis.
