Today’s announcement about the forest of Dadia is another link in the long chain of political falsehood, to which the official opposition desperately resorts.
This was commented by the Deputy Minister of Environment and Energy, Giorgos Amyras, in the SYRIZA announcement about the Dadia forest.
Mr. Amyras spoke of an unabashed lie that allegedly “the government abolished the park’s management body”.
“We answer with the indisputable truth: The government replaced the agencies with the D’Evros and Dadia Management Unit, so that the interventions aimed at its protection take place” he said, commenting that:
– Only in the first half of 2022, the Government allocated the sum of €500,000 for the fire safety of the Dadia forest, with which we opened fire zones with a total length of 140 kilometers, as well as maintaining and widening forest roads with a total length of 440 kilometers. The corresponding funding for SYRIZA ranged annually from 25 to 33 thousand euros. The numbers speak for themselves.
– These measures, as confirmed by the staff of the Fire Service, the Mayor of Soufli, the District Governor, but above all the residents of the area, played a catalytic role in preventing the fire from spreading to the virgin areas of the forest.
– The prevention projects in Dadia were implemented by the Ministry of Environment and Energy in the context of the extensive preventive cleaning of sensitive forest ecosystems “Antinero”, which are being done for the first time.
– Since May, similar fire safety projects have been carried out in 100 forest areas throughout Greece, with a total funding of €72 million, with which 2,200 kilometers of fire zones are opened and fuel is removed from approximately 80,000 acres of forest.
“Unfortunately, SYRIZA has such an understanding of these projects that it claims that the fires go out by themselves. He judges other people’s things on his own…”, he concluded.
