Criticism of the government for its handling of the matter vouchers SYRIZA’s Deputy Head of Department for Social Solidarity works in the nurseries Theano Fotiou.

“How much more indifferent, incompetent and unreliable government is there than that of Kyriakos Mitsotakis who took the children under his protection!!!
Today, municipal and private nurseries are closed, and they don’t know how many free places for children they will have, but not even parents can do family planning. New record of indifference and taunting by the government of parents, children, but also municipalities and private individuals who operate B/N stations.
Because the ministries argue over who will top up the required money. We have known for a long time that Greece did not get the money it was due from the NSRF – because it ended and the new one only covers three years – but limited money from the Child Guarantee, which concerns children in extreme poverty.
In 2019, we gave out 155,000 vouchers – 105,000 were for infants. While we had completed the procedures by July 10-starting of course, two months before. In the ND, which had just become a government, the ministers congratulated each other on the achievement of SYRIZA. Since then the program has been in decline. Last year, according to ETA data, they gave 97,000 vouchers and lied that they gave 120,000.
In 2015 we found 79,000 vouchers, while unemployed mothers were thrown out. We corrected this too and put in 289 million euros, of which 229 million were from the state budget because the previous government had finished the NSRA.
We call on the government to immediately open the nursery program and KDAP – KDAP immediately and take all the children who will submit applications”.
