Mitsotakis from Kefalonia: This year’s tourist season is better than 2019

As soon as he arrived on the Ionian island, the Prime Minister was informed that the number of arrivals at Fraport airports exceeded that of 2019.

A message about the country’s positive performance in tourism was sent from Kefalonia, which he is visiting today, by the Prime Minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, after in his statements, shortly after his arrival on the island, he emphasized: “I was already informed that today we have exceeded the number of arrivals at Fraport’s airports compared to 2019. So we’re heading towards a tourist seasonwhich will be even better than the one we had in 2019″.

The prime minister visited the Kefalonia Hospital where, talking to the workers, he said: “I wanted to come here to see for myself the weaknesses, because there were and still are shortcomings. I want to thank, in your person, all the workers for the great burden you carried during the pandemic and for a regional hospital in an area that has a lot of tourist traffic”, noted Kyriakos Mitsotakis.

“We have made specific commitments for the staff that will come to the hospital, for the operation – finally – of the Intensive Care Unit, for the reformation of the emergency department, for psychiatry, you are doing well to point it out, because these incidents need a special treatment” continued the prime minister and added:

“And we’ll do whatever it takes to renovate the old building itself. There is a study to join the resources of the Recovery Fund. It is the best example of how these resources are ultimately allocated to infrastructure that benefits all patients, but above all the employees.”

At this time, a meeting with the mayors of Kefalonia and Ithaca is being held by the prime minister at the offices of the vice-region.
