The “devil’s week” that starts on Parliament from Monday is expected to largely shape the political scene and the pre-election period in which the country has entered. The political forces because of the case of of its connections EYP they did not experience the summer heat and did not turn off their engines at all. ND, SYRIZA and PASOK are trying to have the best possible “placement” in the first opinion polls that will see the light of day in September. And the first step to achieve this is the meetings of the Parliament.

For ND it is important to maintain the security difference it has from the official opposition and for SYRIZA after a long period of poll “cachexia” to see a light at the end of the tunnel. PASOK, as directly involved in the case, wishes to have the most political benefits and not to be “hatted” by the two “big men”. It is no coincidence that the latest information states that in Harilaou Trikoupi they have almost ready the proposal for the Commission of Inquiry and it is possible that they will submit it at the beginning of the week. They will repeat, in fact, the request for the immediate convening of the Institutions and Transparency Committee, which Koumoundourou has also requested. SYRIZA, in turn, is oriented towards supporting PASOK’s proposal. Everything will depend on the meetings of the bodies that will take place during the weekend, but also the content of the request.

To get her approval of Parliaments the request of Harilaou Trikoupis for the establishment of an Examining Committee should be upvoted by 120 MPs. SYRIZA (85) and PASOK (22) have 107 “yes”, but the other opposition parties have also said that they want the Commission of Inquiry to be established. The negotiations and ferments in the background are expected to be intense in the next period. It has not yet clarified the situation as to what the majority will do and whether it will finally proceed with its own proposal, expanding the time of the investigations from 2012 until today. From government they declare that there should be no “shadow” in relation to old surveillance complaints. The opposition forces are waiting for the data to be submitted to the Institutions and Transparency Committee. It will be of great interest what the prime minister will say on Thursday or Friday when the pre-day debate in Parliament will probably take place.

On the contrary, Alexis Tsipras it is clear that he asked for the pre-day debate, since as head of the official opposition he wants to show that he is leading the front that has been formed against the government. PASOK’s weakness in this meeting is once again the absence of Nikos Androulakis from the plenary hall. In the green camp, they have been arguing for days that the debate that will be held in the Plenary has nothing to contribute to the case and that it will only serve communication purposes.
