by

The Minister of Finance said that the more fiscal space is absorbed for energy, the less resources are available for other support measures.

In the government’s planning, it is the support of society, households and businesses for energy for as long as needed, assured the Minister of Finance, Christos Staikouras, speaking to the SKAI 100.3 radio and Nikos Andritsos. He added that the government has taken into account all the parameters.

He noted, however, that the more fiscal space is absorbed for energy support, the more resources are lacking for other support measures.

Regarding the package of measures that will be announced at the TIF, Mr. Staikouras emphasized that he has discussed the issue with the Prime Minister, but the final decisions will be made at the beginning of September, when all the data on the course of the economy will be available.

Regarding tourism revenues, the minister said that they have reached 95% of the revenues of 2019 and will probably surpass those of 2019.

Regarding the retrospective pensions of the pensioners, Mr. Staikouras emphasized that the Government will respect the court decisions, while as he said at the beginning of 2023, a large part of the pensioners will get increases.

He also emphasized that it is the government’s commitment to abolish the solidarity levy for both Civil Servants and pensioners from the beginning of the new year.
