The Ministry of Foreign Affairs points out that a possible strike on the nuclear power plant facilities would have devastating consequences for the region and the rest of Europe, including our country.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs refers to the dangers posed by a potential strike on the facilities of the nuclear power plant in Zaporizhia, Ukraine.
As he points out, any nuclear energy leak would have devastating consequences for the region and the rest of Europe, including our country.
The announcement in detail:
“Greece is closely following developments regarding the issue of the safety of the nuclear power plant facilities in Zaporizhia, Ukraine, as any nuclear energy leak following the conflicts would have disastrous consequences.
A potential leak will be an environmental disaster both for the region itself, where part of the Greek Community of Ukraine lives, as well as internally displaced persons from Mariupol, but of course also for the rest of Europe, including our country.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nikos Dendias, had discussed this issue during the meeting he had with the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency, Rafael Grossi, last March in Vienna.
In this context, Greece strongly supports the appeal of UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres for the security of the facilities”.
