Mitsotakis from the TIF stands: We have protected jobs, good news is coming from the primary sector

by

“We supported businesses, that’s why we have this remarkable reduction in unemployment and that’s why businesses today are at the forefront of the growth dynamics of the Greek economy,” said the Prime Minister

The prime minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, addressed a big thank you to the people of the Fire Department and to all the state agencies that fought this year’s fires in the country, during his visit to the Fire Service stand in 86th TEF.

There, he was received by the Minister of Civil Protection, Evripidis Stylianidis, whom the Prime Minister congratulated for the prevention and response in the field of fire protection.

Last year when the country was hit by the devastating fires of August 2021, I made a commitment that we would take a hard assessment of our weaknesses and proceed with a substantial realignment of forces. We recruited the main Minister, the main Deputy Minister to create a new Ministry of Civil Protection and Climate Crisis. And I believe that to all well-intentioned Greek citizens, the results of this work are already visible“, said Mr. Mitsotakis and continued:

The fact that we’ve had a lot more aerial vehicles and we’ve never heard from anyone complaining this year where are the planes, where are the helicopters, it’s all down to the hard work you’ve done. And of course we don’t stop there. First of all the period is not over yet, we remain vigilant. But it is a very good proof that we are able, as a State, to keep getting better. To recognize with courage, honestly our mistakes and move forward».

And of course we don’t stop there. First of all the period is not over yet, we remain vigilant. But it is a very good proof that we are able, as a State, to keep getting better. To recognize with courage, honestly our mistakes and move forward. Climate change is a reality and the country’s preparation against diverse crises and extreme weather events should be increasingly intense, increasingly organized“, the prime minister emphasized.

The prime minister also said that just as other countries contributed to the fires in Greece last year, this year our country was the one that sent firefighting aircraft to France and Portugal that were tested by very large forest fires.

“The professional who steals from the state, steals from all Greek taxpayers”

During the Prime Minister’s tour of the stands and areas of the 86th TIF, one of the stops was the stand of the Independent Public Revenue Authority, where the new application for non-issuance of receipts “Appodixi” was presented to him by the governor, Giorgos Pitsilis.

“The professional who steals from the state, ultimately steals from all Greek taxpayers,” said the prime minister, adding that “if you steal from the state, we now have the tools to find you. And we will do it, because this is the socially responsible attitude so that some do not profit at the expense of the citizens.”

He entered a simulator of the F-15 fighter

At the stand of the Ministry of National Defense he was welcomed by the minister, Nikos Panagiotopoulos, and the deputy minister, Nikos Hardalias, and during his tour, the prime minister entered the simulator of the F-35 fighter, one of the biggest attractions of this year’s exhibition.

Mr. Mitsotakis was informed about the other simulators present in the same booth, the Rafale and the Sikorsky helicopter, while he saw the mockups of the new FDI HN frigates “Belharra” and the new MH-60R “Romeo” anti-submarine warfare helicopters.

“We will have good news for the primary sector”

“We will have good news for the primary sector this evening. You will have a little patience to listen to what I have to say in my speech” announced Mr. Mitsotakis during a conversation he had with three young people involved in the primary sector, during his visit to the stand of the Ministry of Agricultural Development and Food, in the presence of and the minister Giorgos Georgantas.

“You are three very good examples of how we envision the primary sector of the future with products that will be based on quality and can be exported abroad and bring a good income to the country for you and for the entire Greek economy,” he told them. Prime Minister.

“We protected jobs, we supported businesses”

Earlier, the prime minister addressed the Annual General Assembly of the Central Union of Chambers of Greece, where he emphasized: “Our government was completely justified. We protected jobs. We supported businesses, that’s why we have this remarkable reduction in unemployment and that’s why businesses today are at the forefront of the growth dynamics of the Greek economy.”

“I know very well that all businesses face major issues with the cost of energy. Suffice it to say that gas prices have increased tenfold from the levels they were 2 years ago. It is a global reality that we have to face. We have already built a network of protection for Greek society at the national level and of course we always expect further European support in order to be able to relieve households and businesses in this way. I also want to emphasize that in this consultation process with the European Union, Greece has been a pioneer and the Greek mechanism for recovering excess revenues from energy producers is currently the model on which the proposals of the European Commission will be built in order to be adopted by all member states”, the prime minister added, among other things.
