The increase in the minimum wage has pre-election targeting, as it is referred to May 2023, but without a clear commitment as to its amount, points out the head of the Labor department of SYRIZA-PS, Marilisa Xenogiannakopoulou
For “government propaganda and disinformation”, the head of the Labor department of SYRIZA-PS, Marilisa Xenogiannakopoulou, accuses the prime minister on the occasion of his announcements about increasing pensions.
Specifically, Ms. Xenogiannakopoulou states: “Last night, Mr. Mitsotakis, in his speech in Vellideio, solemnly and to applause, announced the increase in pensions from next year. It was preceded by the relevant announcement by Mr. Hatzidakis in the previous weeks. Finally today at the press conference, Mr. Mitsotakis was forced to admit to the relevant question of ethnos.gr that the expected increases in pensions in 2023 are those foreseen by the regulation of the SYRIZA government of 2017! Regarding the abolition of the special solidarity levy for pensioners, the reality is that 66% of pensioners, who receive less than €1,000 in pensions, will see no increase at all in their incomes, while the vast majority of the rest will see minimal increases . Of course, Mr. Mitsotakis did not make any mention of the performance of retroactive benefits that pensioners are deprived of for the second time due to the government’s choices!».
For the rest of the Prime Minister’s announcements, he maintains that they are of a pre-election nature: “The increase in the minimum wage has pre-election targeting, as it is referred to May 2023, but without a clear commitment as to its amount. In other words, low-wage earners are condemned to the next eight months without any increase, while their wages and purchasing power continue to shrink dramatically from the energy crisis, precision and inflation fed by government policy. The vague reference to the reform of the salary in the State from 2024 is also a pre-election expectation without response!».
Condensing, he states:The conclusion is clear. Apart from big false words, the workers and pensioners, who are already struggling to get by, in the face of an extremely difficult winter, have nothing to expect from the government of punctuality, the dissolution of labor relations, energy poverty, and anti-democratic diversion! Today only popular sovereignty can provide the solution to the elections with the essential political and social change!».
