Erdogan’s blatant lies at the UN – How Athens shot them down one by one

One more argument and one more proof of the non-existent, irrational and continuous Turkish provocation against Greece was given to Greek diplomacy by the infuriating and slanderous statement of Tayyip Erdogan at the UN annual general assembly. At a time when the world is – now – aware of Tayyip Erdogan’s Turkish bargains with the West, in the midst of a global crisis and geopolitical instability, the speech of his eastern neighbor will be another “ace” that will be thrown on the table of critical and their international contacts, both the Greek Prime Minister and the Minister of Foreign Affairs during their meetings on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly. Meetings during which photographs of unknown origin and reception will not be brought to the attention of the interlocutors, as Tayyip Erdoğan did in propaganda by throwing mud against Greece, but – according to government sources – documents, maps and materials that prove the aggressive “games” will be disclosed. of Ankara in the Eastern Mediterranean, with rhetorical threats but also on the ground, with overflights and violations of the national airspace of Greece.

Evidence which, according to the same sources, is expected to be invoked and presented by Kyriakos Mitsotakis from the UN platform, during his keynote speech on Friday, sending a clear and strict message to Turkey to stop the provocations, but also to remind the international community of the stabilizing role that Greece plays in the Eastern Mediterranean region, as a factor of peace and security.

The Greek side, however, did not expect this level of attack and slander from the Turkish President, even though his provocative behavior and the cruelty of his non-existent claims were taken for granted. Nevertheless, as diplomatic sources observed, as Greece knows very well, Turkey also knows that its untrue claims do not stand at the international level.

After all, as the same sources estimate, Tayyip Erdoğan may have attempted to provoke an emotional reaction in the audience, nevertheless, he remained silent regarding those concerning International Law and what the Turkish side claims. And while from the UN platform he had the right audience to present his claims about treaties and International Law, which he sometimes throws against Greece, he did not, because the last Greek letter he answers in an absolute way and they themselves know that their arguments do not stand and do not exist, as for example the illegal Turkish-Libyan memorandum, which everyone knows is not valid and has no basis.

Unstoppable Enrtogan crescendo

Tayyip Erdoğan during his speech at the annual UN assembly continued without brakes to slide down the slope of provocations and propaganda against Greece, he insisted on distorting every nugget of reality and continued the fake news, “enriching” it with dubious authenticity, of unknown origin and receiving pictures of dead children, claiming that this is the result of violent pushbacks by the Greek Coast Guard.

Referring specifically to Greece, he said he is doing it illegally push backs, turns the Aegean into a refugee graveyard and sinks the migrants’ boats.

Defiantly ignoring the documents of years, from the diverse Turkey’s hybrid attacks against Greece through migration flows that he coordinated, directed and implemented by land and sea, Tayyip Erdoğan went so far as to hypocritically and unabashedly claim that “we don’t want to see any more dead babies like Aylan wash up on our shores” as he typically said, recalling the tragic incident of little Aylan seven years after his tragic death on September 2, 2015, while he went so far as to claim that last week a 9 month old baby and a 4 year old child they lost their lives because the Greek coast guard sank their boats. In fact, after showing photos of the dead children, he called on the UN to say “stop” to the crimes against humanity committed by Greece.

Continuing the anti-Greek delirium, the Turkish president described as “ridiculous” Greece that “seeks to make a show of force” and called on it – turning white to black – to put aside provocations and escalation and respond to Turkey’s calls for solidarity and cooperation .

“We will defend our rights in the Aegean and the Eastern Mediterranean and will not succumb to the escalation policies followed by other countries”he claimed.

One by one, Erdogan’s lies were dismantled
