PASOK: The way in which the tiered subsidy is imposed does not lead to energy savings

“In any case, the consequences of the energy war are not dealt with subsidizing but reforming” The comment of Haris Doukas, Secretary of the Energy Sector of PASOK-KINAL

“In the Netherlands, there is a cap on energy (electricity and gas), following the logic of the French and English model, in order to protect households from the precision rally. In Spain, a 10-fold increase in the installation of residential photovoltaics on roofs was announced. In Greece, on the other hand, it continues the monthly show” comments Haris Doukas, Secretary of the Energy Sector PASOK-KINAL, for government measures.

“Yesterday the electricity companies announced the very expensive prices in the tariffs, which remain among the highest in Europe this month. Then, today we heard about the subsidies from the Ministry that will cover part of the increases. It is clear that the way that is imposed the graduated subsidy does not lead to energy savings. The announcement of a new fee of 10 euros per thermal MWh is also impressive. There was also a corresponding new fee of 10 euros for the electric MWh last month. Will a new fee be announced every month? And who will bear them?” says Mr. Doukas.

“In any case, the consequences of the energy war are not dealt with by means of subsidies but by reforms. For the necessary reforms in the market, the tax incentives for saving and self-production in households and the economic motivation of energy-efficient enterprises, once again we have heard nothing concrete” concludes the executive of PASOK.
