The President of the Republic of Cyprus spoke about the Cyprus issue and Turkey’s ongoing threats against the Republic of Cyprus and Greece Nikos Anastasiadis in his intervention in the proceedings of the Meeting of the European Political Community held today in Prague with the participation a total of 44 leaders from states of the European continent.
In his statements at mediathe government representative Marios Pelekanos, referring to the participation of President Anastasiades, said that “the round table discussion in which the President of the Republic participated, on the topic of ‘Peace and Security’, was completed a while ago. President Anastasiades reiterated Cyprus’ support for the creation of the European Political Community as all the countries together, of the European continent, can contribute to maintaining stability, security and peace. Regarding the President’s statements, we should say that he documented the similarities between what is currently happening in Ukraine after the Russian invasion and what happened and continues to happen in Cyprus after the Turkish invasion in 1974. The President of Democracy emphasized the great importance the international actor to react in the ever-increasing Turkish provocation and aggression against both Cyprus and Greece. This behavior of Turkey cannot be countered by implementing two meters and two feet. President Anastasiades emphasized how important it is for the international factor to mobilize, so that we can prevent this aggressive behavior.”
