Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias mentioned the Turkish challenges at the 18th Annual Economist Cyprus Summit.

At the 18th Annual Economist Cyprus Summit, Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias referred to the escalation of the war in Ukraine and the attitude of Turkey.

Regarding the developments in Ukraine, Mr. Dendias said: “We are witnessing a new escalation, which is centered on the civilian population. Now, the front is expanding to the entire country. The Greek position remains stable. We stand for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of all states. We condemned the annexation of territories to Russia.”

“Our main concern remains the protection of the Greek community and the administration of justice for the war crimes that have been committed,” he added.

He then referred to the Turkish provocations, stressing that: “Turkey’s actions risk upsetting the fragile balance in the Mediterranean. More recently, with the signing of the illegal memorandum with Libya. At the same time, it continues the provocations in the Aegean and Cyprus, violating fundamental rules of International Law”.

“We will protect our rights with our allies. But we will do so with a compass of respect for the fundamental principles of the United Nations and the European Union” emphasized Mr. Dendias.
