After the simple and enhanced proportional ballot – which will probably be rigged if a majority of “151” MPs is not achieved – voters will not stop going to the screens.

In the spring the “abstinence” from the polls it stops. Greece may not have recorded the phenomena of Italy or Great Britain where the prime ministers “change like shirts”, however since 1974 there have been 18 parliamentary election contests. This means that the average life of governments in these 48 years is a little more than 2.5 years. As for when the next polls will be held in schools across the country, many dates have fallen on the table. The first two Sundays of April on the 2nd and 9th of the month seem to be ideal, as the government wants to catch Easter Sunday. With the very strong possibility that a second confrontation will follow, it is self-evident that the majority wants to avoid interfering in the “people’s bathrooms”. Elections in the heart of summer, despite the polarization that will exist, will certainly prevent many young people from voting, many holidaymakers as well as tourism workers.
What is certain is that the parties they will not turn off the engines. What’s next after the spring and summer of 2023? An election marathon. After the simple and enhanced proportional ballot – which will probably be rigged if a majority of “151” MPs is not achieved – voters will not stop going to the screens. The municipal-regional elections will be held next October and the European elections in May 2024. Therefore, any government that is elected or the coalition of forces that will take power will be tested twice more. And the opposition will have the opportunity with a favorable result to challenge its legitimacy. Local government elections, which are dual, always help to create partnerships at the local level for both major parties it will be a decisive “crash test”. For the ND to repaint the map of Greece blue, as three years ago only the region of Crete had remained in the colors of SYRIZA. For today’s official opposition to prove that after ten years it managed to organize itself at the local level and overcome its bad self of 2014 and May 2019. All forces are already preparing in municipalities and prefectures of the country, making their lists. They are not carried away by the fact that the national elections will precede. Spring ballots are another process that will slowly wrap up early in the new year.
The European elections are usually an opportunity to express and a protest vote. With this as a given, it is possible to favor new formations. However, since they will be held close to the previous national polls, they will also be a vote of confidence or disapproval for the prime minister who will have assumed the reins of the country a year before.
