The president of PASOK gave a press conference about the surveillance

“Two months after the TIF, when everyone called us excessive regarding the surveillance, we are facing a completely different climate,” said the President of PASOK-Movement for Change Nikos Androulakis from the “Greek World Culture Center” in a press conference.

“The institutional role we chose finally had an effect”, underlined Mr. Androulakis, stressing that the parastatal arm will bend. He even spoke about the lists of names that have been published, calling on all the persons involved to turn to Justice, as he himself did.

“The Government, knowing that European condemnation is coming, brought a draft law, which, despite any positive elements, does not in fact touch the core of the serious pathologies of the system. There is still a lack of accountability,” he said.

“The issue of surveillance does not concern only the political community but all citizens, said Mr. Androulakis and continued by characterizing it as a problem inextricably linked to the Greek pathogenesis. The president of PASOK-Movement of Change, also made specific proposals to the Government, following the draft law that was published on wiretapping.

“We insist institutionally. We demand full justification for the lifting of confidentiality and the cutting off of the EYP from the prime minister’s office”, he noted.

Upcoming elections

“To be done in a landscape of transparency, accountability and at the same time to deal with the toxic climate that is being strengthened by the Government and also by SYRIZA”, underlined Mr. Androulakis.

Finally, he made a request to the ADAE in order to check whether there are indeed connections to the people listed in the publications.
