Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis had the customary meeting with the President of the Republic, Katerina Sakellaropoulou, today at the Presidential Palace.

“They have to take the responsibility that belongs to them,” Mr. Mitsotakis emphasized.

He also called on banks to support vulnerable households and prevent the creation of a new generation of “red loans”.

According to information, the Prime Minister’s reference to the meeting with Mrs. Sakellaropoulou in the banks shows his particular annoyance with the attitude of the banks and as he underlines the measures that need to be taken must be paid for by the profits of the banks and not by the budgeti.e. the Greek taxpayer.

It is recalled that the government has requested, among other things, from the banks: support for vulnerable borrowers, an increase in the approval of extrajudicial mechanism applications, a reduction in interest rates, a brake on the cost of commissions for simple banking transactions.

At the same time, he has legislated: No bonus for high-ranking bank executives for 2022.
