Logic… was lost in Ankara: New “narrative” from Cavusoglu – “Europe’s southern borders are in Turkey”

by

“We are trying to resolve our differences with our neighboring country, Greece, through peaceful procedures and diplomacy. But two people are needed to tango”, said the Turkish Foreign Minister at an International Conference in Rome

THE Turkey it is not satisfied with the distortion of reality and Turkey, but adds to the barrage of its provocative claims and the distortion of… geography! Mevlut Cavusoglu appeared with a new narrative, which reaches, now exceeds the limits of any rational thought. As reported by the SKAI correspondent in Istanbul, Manolis Kostidisthe Turkish foreign minister, in a speech at the 8th International Conference in Rome on the Mediterranean, argued that the southernmost border of Europe does not start with Greece, but with Turkey.

“Turkey has an important contribution to the security of Europe. The southern borders of Europe do not begin with Greece. The southern borders of Europe and NATO start from Turkey. In the fight against terrorism, Turkey plays an important role. We are the only NATO member country actively fighting ISIS.”

In an attempt to justify the unjustifiable, Mr Mevlut Cavusoglu blamed Greece and the other Mediterranean countries for the “mobilization”, as he said, of Turkey. In other words, according to the Turkish foreign minister, everyone is wrong and only Turkey is right. He went so far as to mention occupied Cyprus as an official entity, ignoring that it is a European territory under military occupation, after an invasion:

“Why did Turkey mobilize? Because the other side, the other Mediterranean countries, ignored Turkey and the rights of the TRNC (pseudo-crats in Cyprus). We are calling for a fair and equal distribution, just as the citizens of the “TRDBK” believe in this distribution.

If you look at the maps, they try not to leave anything in Turkey. In the field and at the table we mobilized and made a record of our own continental shelf, before the UN and called the others saying let’s all meet and discuss how the equal distribution can be done”.

True to his narrative and the distortion of reality, Tsavousoglou also referred to Greece, insisting that Athens is the one causing the problem: “We are trying to resolve our differences with our neighboring country, Greece, through peaceful processes and diplomacy. But it takes two people to tango. Greece must have the same thinking, just as the Greek Cypriots must support the fair distribution”.
