Androulakis: Immediate arms embargo and imposition of sanctions on Turkey

“Is this the behavior of an allied country, as some believe in the European Commission and the Council? What else needs to be done to take measures” he told the European Parliament

The imposition of an arms embargo on Turkey is an immediate necessity, underlined the president of PASOK-Movement for Change, Nikos Androulakis in his intervention in the Plenary of the European Parliament.

Mr. Androulakis pointed out that “Turkey is once again bombing the Kurds in Northern Syria, who with their own struggle prevented the Islamic State”, leaving tips for the EU’s attitude with the reference that “we seem to forget easily as we remain observers of the challenges and continuous violations of International Law”.

Mr. Androulakis added that Turkey is the only NATO country that has not imposed sanctions on Russia while it continues to blackmail Sweden and Finland by refusing to ratify their entry into NATO and violates the sovereign rights of Greece and Cyprus.

“He even had the audacity on Sunday to threaten our country, saying that if he does not sit wisely, Athens will soon be within the range of the new missile he is building,” Mr. Androulakis pointed out.

“Is this the behavior of an allied country, as some believe in the European Commission and the Council? What else needs to be done to take action? The minimum that can be done is the immediate imposition of an arms embargo and sanctions that will hit the Erdogan regime”, concluded Nikos Androulakis.
