“Greece has no problem with Turkey per se (…) But it does have a big problem with Turkish revisionism,” Nikos Dendias clarified

Message to Eddie Rama that Greece considers that Albania belongs to the European Union, but this implies the fulfillment of a series of parameters, sent the Nikos Dendias from Tirana, in the shadow of “dystokia» of the Albanian side for the deposit in The Hague of a co-signatory for the delimitation of the AOZ and the continental shelf.

At the end of his tour of the Western Balkans, Mr. Dendias met with the Albanian Minister of Foreign Affairs, and at noon the Albanian Prime Minister hosted a lunch for him.

“Greece has no problem with Turkey per se (…) But it does have a big problem with Turkish revisionism,” clarified Nikos Dendias.

The statements of Nikos Dendias in detail

“Today here in Tirana my tour of the Western Balkans ends. I had the opportunity to meet in the morning with my counterpart, the Albanian Minister of Foreign Affairs, and in the afternoon the Prime Minister, Edi Rama, was kind enough to give me lunch. We had the opportunity with both my interlocutors on the one hand to analyze the situation in the Western Balkans, the problems that exist in northern Kosovo, but also to refer to our bilateral relations.

“As far as our bilateral relations are concerned, I think I explained myself in detail in the interview I gave with my counterpart at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“But I want to make a final remark after my lunch with the Prime Minister. Albania has made a key choice. Its choice is to become a member of the European Union. To do what is self-evident, to place himself in the hard core of the European family. And we Greeks believe that it belongs there. But this implies a series of parameters. These parameters, which the Albanian side must decide, must serve its main narrative.

“And let me clarify something else. Greece has no problem with Turkey per se. Nor does he have any issue with working with Turkey. But he has a big problem with Turkish revisionism, as with any revisionism. Consequently, any parameter must, on the one hand, serve the European idea, on the other hand, not allow the manifestation of revisionism in the region”.
