Time is now counting down for Eva Kaili, as in the next few hours it will be decided whether she will remain detained for another month: According to what applies in Belgium, the extension of detention is decided on a monthly basis. Earlier today, the MEP was brought from the prisons of Haren before the pre-trial council, where she was examined and supported her positions. Her advocates, when process completed stated that their client is innocent, but Mr. Andre Rizopoulos and Michalis Dimitrakopoulos, stated that they requested her release from prison with an electronic means of surveillance – the well-known “bracelet”. As Mr. Rizopoulos said, the decision on her fate is expected by this evening. None of the two lawyers, however, gave information about the content of Eva Kaili’s testimony, given that it is confidential information from the case file.

However, there are also developments in Greece regarding his case Qatargate and especially for her Eva Kaili and her partner Francesco Giorgi, after being bound by a decision of the Money Laundering Authority, led by the honorary deputy prosecutor of the Supreme Court Charalambos Vourliotis, the plot of land of a total area of ​​seven acres in Paros that was bought by the couple.

The freeze was decided in the context of the money laundering investigations that are also being carried out in Greece, while at the same time, according to information, a joint account held by Eva Kaili and her husband was also frozen through which the money for the purchase of the property in question was transferred .

However, through her Greek lawyer Michalis Dimitrakopoulou the MEP had stated a few days ago that the purchase of the property in Paros was completely legal and the money for it was justified by her wages and income.
