Pierrakakis: The government of Kyriakos Mitsotakis is tomorrow

by

“We started with 500 services. Today it is 1500”, said the Minister of State and Digital Governance

“Today, Kyriakos Mitsotakis completed 7 years in the position of ND president. In a few months he will complete 4 years as prime minister”, said Pavlos Marinakis at an open New Democracy event dedicated to the digital progress the country has recorded. The secretary of the ruling party stressed that the previous government made Greece the bottom in every indicator, followed by the Mitsotakis government, which, he said, implemented the program in the midst of serious crises. “We are now talking about a country that is a champion in development, in exports, that reduces taxes. Did all this happen by accident? Did Mr. Tsipras’ pillow save us as he says? We have before us the most toxic opposition that the country has known. In the coming months they will play their rest. We will try the opposite”, he continued.

Mr. Marinakis said that this discussion is a good opportunity not only for what happened but also because it was done with cooperation between ministers.

“In a faction that was tired of apologizing to those who had nothing to do with progress, all the successes that this ministry handled were substantial social policy. Greece finally has a truly progressive government,” he continued.

The secretary of ND said that the presence of Mr. Pierrakaki in this ministry it is proof why “ND is the only big party”.

He added that elections are coming that will decide the future of the next generations and “there we will decide the next prime minister of the country and it will be Kyriakos Mitsotakis, there is no room for a loose vote”.

This was followed by the projection of a video with the report on the action of the Ministry of Digital Governance and then the Minister of State and Digital Governance Kyriakos Pierrakakis took the floor.

“There are decades when nothing happens and weeks when decades happen. We experienced this first hand. Until 2019 the crises were endogenous. Since 2019, they have been outsiders,” he said in his first talks.

Mr. Pierrakakis mentioned that in 2019 SW won the elections in a logic to close the outstanding issues of the past. “The government had a dual character. Solved pending issues. A typical example is pending contracts. And on the other hand, crisis management. The government managed to create a new logic of results”, he underlined.

The Minister of Digital Governance made a comparison of the economic indicators in the period 2015-2019 and later until today. “This will be put at the end of the day to the judgment of the citizens again this year”, he noted, while for the digital he emphasized the importance of cooperation between ministers.

He said there are three key words “preparation – preparation – preparation”.

He mentioned that it all started when the Prime Minister changed the structure of the government by introducing the Ministry of Digital Governance.

“Half the work to solve a problem is to define it. What he was waiting for was a state that works or that doesn’t bother him so much. A new structure was made, the laws were ready long before the elections. The detail played its part and so there are these results. 772 million digital transactions in 2022 and 1.2 billion if one adds tax transactions as well. It’s 1.2 million queues..” he continued.

Mr. Pierrakakis said that gov.gr is essentially the new face of the state and a great conquest that we are building. “We started with 500 services. Today it is 1,500,” he added.

Additionally, he observed that elections are always about the future and “how the presumption of credibility of this government is objectively high”.

Then, referring to the future, he said that there will be big changes.

“Each sector of the state should continue to be reformed. And let’s look at the big canvas, the geopolitical one. The dilemma is electoral, it is before us. We will have a historical record of a flash or what happened is simply progress and in 2030 the country will release all its being to achieve things. I hope the question is rhetorical. The interlocutors of the past cannot converse with what is to come. Let’s decide whether to talk to yesterday or tomorrow. The government of Kyriakos Mitsotakis is tomorrow. And for this reason, tomorrow belongs to us”, he underlined. At the event, the head of the thematic area of e-government and digital transformation of ND Myronas Flouris was also a speaker.
