The Penteli Children’s Hospital was visited today by the president of SYRIZA, Alexis Tsipras.

According to a SYRIZA announcement, while talking to doctors, nurses and parents of hospitalized children, Mr. Tsipras received a tragic picture of the situation that prevails in pediatric hospitals at a time when, in the midst of an outbreak of viruses and an unprecedented shortage of medicines, the NHS is still once understaffed and with huge shortages due to the political choices of the Mitsotakis government.

Then Mr. Tsipras made the following statement to the press representatives:

“The country is experiencing a prolonged public health crisis due to the choices of the Mitsotakis government. We are facing a resurgence of the health crisis and the National Health System is probably at its worst moment than in all the previous years, forever.

We have many surgeries postponed, many clinics unable to function, we have hundreds of patients on waiting lists.

Especially in the pediatric structures there is a lot of congestion. At the same time there is a huge shortage of medicines. So the situation is tragic and the responsibilities are very great.

The Mitsotakis government has led to the dissolution of the National Health System through its discredit, through its privatization, through a policy that gives space only to profit, to speculation. A government that doesn’t care about public health is a government that doesn’t care about social security.

A strong public health system is an answer that concerns both the safety of society and social justice. We will fight for this, it is something we owe to the Greek women and men”.
