The Archbishop of America will attend the first meeting of the joint committee tomorrow

The Archbishop of America has been in Fanari since the day before yesterday Promisingwho even participated in the scheduled regular session of the Holy Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate for the month of January.

THE Archbishop of America will attend tomorrow the first meeting of the joint committee to revise the current Constitution of the Archdiocese of America, whose goal is to more effectively and better meet the needs of the Greek Orthodox faithful in the United States of America, as the Archdiocese enters its second century of life.

As noted in a related announcement, the Archdiocese of America as a province of the Ecumenical Throne of Constantinople, has received five Constitutions during its hundred-year history to date. After all, the process of revisions was carried out with the utmost attention, care, thoroughness and prudence, so that the pastoral needs of our Church in America, for each period of time, were addressed.

In fact, last year, the year of celebration of the centenary of the Archdiocese of America and in conjunction with the July lay assembly of the clergy in New York, the views of the faithful were reflected in a session dedicated to Constitution, in which all representatives, clergy and laity participated. It was recognized by all that a new vision must take shape in order to maintain the continued spiritual growth and well-being of the Archdiocese and its flock. For this very purpose, our Ecumenical Patriarchate proceeded to set up the joint committee for the revision of the current Constitution, in the context of the ongoing care to deal with the spiritual demands of the times, but also the practical needs of an ever-evolving Greek Orthodox community in America.

The completion of the project has been undertaken by a group of highly distinguished hierarchs, clergy and laity, representing both the Ecumenical Patriarchate and the Archdiocese of America.
