Kalin: We want the F-16s unconditionally, if we don’t get them, we will consider alternatives – Message of support for Greece’s sovereignty from Israel – Mitsotakis: “We will not allow a precedent of violent border change”

There is no end to the provocations against Greece by Turkey, and in particular by Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who seems to have acquired an obsession with our country and the actions of the government of Kyriakos Mitsotakis.

The Turkish president is not satisfied with the threats and the daily distortion of reality, as in the fronts he has already opened with the entire Western world and especially the USA, he is preparing to open another front, insisting on the violation of international law.

Recep Tayyip Erdogan has decided to speed up the passage by his country’s parliament of the illegal Turkish-Libyan memorandum, with the intention of starting hydrocarbon exploration south of Crete. This news comes to light a few hours after the visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nikos Dendias, to Israel, which has also condemned and rejected the illegal cooperation memorandum signed by Turkey and Libya.

Kalin nerves about the F-16s that the US does not give

The great nervousness of the Turkish government regarding the F-16 program was once again expressed by Ibrahim Kalinwho stated that Ankara wants to stay in the program, but is not going to accept the terms and conditions set by the US and especially Congress.

As reported by SKAI’s correspondent in Istanbul, Manolis Kostidis, the representative of the Turkish presidency again referred to Greece, saying that if the US gives the F-35s to Athens, then they will lose their neutrality in NATO.

“If in the Congress some senators like Menendezbring this issue (s.s. Sweden Finland) as a condition and if at the same time they respond positively to the request of Greece for the F-35, they will lose their neutrality in NATO. If they make this a condition, there is no way we can accept it. I say it clearly. There is no way for us to take any step if there is such a thing. If the F-16 program depends on its inclusion Sweden and Finland in NATO, it would be better not to put it on their agenda at all. There is no way to back down on these issues, they are all separate.”

And he continues: “We see the F-16 program as an honorable alternative to strengthen our Air Force, but also to strengthen NATO. If the US government or the Congress set conditions or say “if you don’t do this this won’t happen”, we will continue our course and will not stay with our hands tied. The Turkish Armed Forces for its modernization and needs will look for other alternatives.”

QUESTION: If there is such a premise, can we say that the F-16 campaign ends?

“It depends on the conditions. We want to continue this program. We know that this is the desire and intention of the government. But if they can’t get past the congressional hurdle and it gets stuck in Congress, then we’ll reassess.”

Question: There is information and claims that if a crisis arises on the subject of Sweden and Finland, the US will add the issue as a condition for the f-16 issue

“We also hear such information and rumors that the Congress will make something like this a prerequisite. There are such considerations. It was conveyed to us that the government has no such requirement or desire.”

Mitsotakis: We will not allow a precedent with a violent border change

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis sent a stern message to Turkey, in a speech on University of Tokyo.

Mr. Mitsotakis, referring to the Ukrainian and the Russian invasion, stated that “at the same time, in our own neighborhood, we have to deal with a difficult neighbor – and I am referring to Turkey. And we want to make sure that under no circumstances will we allow a precedent to be set that borders can be changed by force and that there will be no respect for International Law. So we have an additional reason to be very supportive of Ukraine in its fight to ensure that it remains an independent, free and sovereign nation.

Dendias: A clear message of support from Israel

Extremely satisfied after today’s visit to Israelsaid Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias after his successive contacts with his Israeli counterpart Eli Cohen, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and President Isaac Herzog.

Referring to the meetings, Nikos Dendias he said that there was a broad exchange of views. “However, I consider the most important, the clear declaration of the Israeli side in favor of the sovereignty, territorial integrity and sovereign rights of Greece” he underlined. Focusing further on the significance of the statement, he said it was clearly made on camera as well.

Furthermore, the foreign minister found broad identification on a number of issues, such as energy transfer, defense and economic cooperation and division in the various sectors, and declared that “it is a very good springboard for the further deepening of Greece’s relations with Israel”.
