Stelios Petsas spoke to SKAI about leaps of the coronavirus in our country in the next period of time regarding the cases, in the shadow of the spread of the Omikron mutation, while leaving open the possibility of re-evaluating measures such as 10% fullness for the stadiums.
“The government followed the recommendation of the experts, it had announced in advance that it would review the epidemiological picture of the country every week. It is an epidemiological picture in which we will have leaps and bounds, we have no doubt about that,” said the deputy interior minister.
In this context, the Minister emphasized the information of citizens and businesses.
“Nightclubs and the slower catering section will have a cost that will be significant, especially for nightclubs,” he admitted.
Regarding the stadiums, Mr. Petsas also acknowledged that “I understand that the fullness is low in some cases where there are large stadiums, possibly for large teams that have a lot of people, who have sold many thousands of season tickets, but the measures have a horizon of 15 days, they are always subject to re-evaluation, we will see how the situation will develop in this part and we will make any decision that is needed “.
He assured that “the government will continue to support the economy, it is clear that a provision has been made in the 2022 budget to continue this support for at least a few months, and if necessary there will be an extension of the measures.”
He explained that the measures for the churches and the commercial world have paid off, we will see if something additional is needed, but the problem is in the places where there is mass consolidation.
“The vaccination program is going well, we urge those over 60, and those others who have not been vaccinated, to get their vaccine,” said Mr. Petsas.
