SYRIZA is expected to vote “present” on the amendment of the Ministry of the Interior to exclude the Kasidiaris party, as announced by the parliamentary representative of SYRIZA, Panos Skourletis
Taking the floor, Mr. Skourletis referred to the regulation submitted by his party and noted that the reference to the amendment to article 29 of the Constitution for the free operation of the democratic state forces the official opposition to declare “present”.
“The government’s insistence on Article 29 of the Constitution does not allow us to vote on this specific provision and we choose “present”” he said characteristically.
“I was saddened to hear that the final decision of SYRIZA is “present”. It is an act of political cowardice at a critical moment,” commented the attending minister, Adonis Georgiadis, and added: “the ND government is trying to solve a problem concerning the delay of the Golden Dawn trial. A problem inherited by the previous SYRIZA government”.
Mr. Georgiadis also accused SYRIZA of having allied with the ACA in order to topple the Samara-Venizelou government and of wanting its presence in order to get votes from the ND. “Then of course he was close to the events with the upper and lower square. Your alliance had continuity. It wasn’t official, only Paraskevopoulos made it that way”, he said and added meaningfully: “present means let Kasidiaris come down, that’s what you said a while ago”.
