The post of the Minister of Foreign Affairs on the construction of two football fields in the municipality of Beriso, Argentina, on behalf of the Greek government
A donation from the Greek government to the municipality of Beriso, Argentina, the city with the oldest Greek community in South America and with strong multiculturalism, announced the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nikos Dendias, during his visit to Buenos Aires. With this donation and in collaboration with the municipality of Berissos and the Banco Nación bank, two football stadiums will be built under the name Greece (Grecia), with the aim of supporting youth and sports, it is noted in a post by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on social media .
The ceremony took place in a festive atmosphere, with the participation of the Minister of Infrastructure, Gabriel Katopodis, the president of the bank Silvina Batakis (both of Greek origin) and the mayor Fabian Gagliardi.
It is noted that Argentina is the third stop of the foreign minister’s five-day tour in six Central and South American countries. At the beginning of his visit to Argentina, Nikos Dendias met with the Metropolitan of Buenos Aires, His Eminence and Exarch of South America, Joseph. He then met with the president of the Federation of Hellenic Communities of Argentina Dr. Anastasios Cavathas and its representatives, as well as with members of expatriate organizations.
Subsequently, Mr. Dendias met with the president of the Argentine Parliament, Cecilia Moro, in the presence of the president of the Foreign Affairs Committee, Eduardo Felix Valdes. As pointed out in a post by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, parliamentary diplomacy, the strengthening of bilateral cooperation in the fields of economy, foreign relations, tourism and sports were at the center of the meeting. In fact, on the occasion of the first visit of a Greek foreign minister to this Latin American country, the establishment of a Greece-Argentina Friendship Group was announced.
Afterwards, a meeting between Nikos Dendias and his counterpart, Santiago Andres Cafiero, will take place. Also, the Greek Foreign Minister is expected to be received by the President of the country, Alberto Fernandez.
