Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias had a telephone conversation with his Austrian counterpart Alexander Schallenberg, during which it was agreed that due to the pandemic situation in general, the scheduled visit to Vienna on New Year’s Eve will be postponed. At the same time, they point out that the visit is expected to take place as soon as possible, if possible within January.
The rest of the Foreign Minister’s program, according to the same diplomatic sources, is expected to proceed normally.
More specifically, continuing the diplomatic marathon in the coming days in order to promote the positions of our country and the consolidation of the ties it has built, on January 4, Mr. Dendias is expected to receive in Athens the Saudi Foreign Minister, Prince Faisal. , following the bilateral visit to Riyadh last April, but also the participation of the Foreign Minister of Saudi Arabia in the Friendship Forum last February in Athens.
The foreign minister is expected to visit two of sub-Saharan Africa’s largest economic powers, Nigeria and Angola, between January 9th and 11th.
Mr. Dendias is then expected to travel to Brest for the informal EU Council of Foreign Ministers.
During his stay in France, the Foreign Minister is expected to visit the shipyard where the new Greek frigates are built and to have bilateral contacts with his French counterpart, Jean-Yves Le Drian, also with the participation of of the Ministers of Defense of Greece, Nikos Panagiotopoulos and of France, Florence Parly.
