PASOK-KINAL: Resubmits an amendment to protect borrowers and farmers

by

The amendment concerns “reinstating the protection of the principal residence of weak borrowers from auctions and extortion by funds”

“The decision of the Plenary of the Supreme Court, which was taken with the speed of injunctive measures, opens the way wide for the funds to auctions“, PASOK-Movement for Change points out in a statement from the party’s press office.

He emphasizes that “never before in the past have consumers and businesses been threatened with such massive auctions. However, they were never as unprotected as they are today.”

The opposition party practices harsh criticism to the government, as it “can no longer hide behind an inadequate and ineffective extrajudicial mechanism. After all, no out-of-court mechanism can fill the void left by the abolition of homestead protection and the elimination of all bargaining power of debtors that it caused,” as it states.

As stated in the announcement, PASOK-Movement for Change submits again amendment in the House to restore the protection of the main residence of vulnerable borrowers from auctions and extortion funds, which, among other things, provides for setting lower installments and a fixed, low interest rate for loan arrangements and public subsidy of repayment installments for proven weak borrowers, as well as the protection of agricultural land.

In addition, he calls on all parties to accept and support the amendment, which he claims “constitutes an act of responsibility towards the citizens”.
