Pierrakakis: We want all transactions with the state to be carried out digitally

by

“The completion of three years since the operation of gov.gr is for us at the Ministry of Digital Governance an excellent opportunity to talk in detail about the new face of the state. It is an opportunity not only to present the digital services we have implemented, but to analyze the philosophy, the structure and the next steps of the digital state” states the Minister of Digital Governance, Kyriakos Pierrakakis to APE-MBE on the occasion of the completion of the three-year operation of the gov .gr.

As he points out “gov.gr was and remains a team effort. It is the product of cooperation between ministries and state agencies, but also the result of the partnership of public and private sector executives. His presentation will also be a team affair.” In fact, referring to the event organized by the ministry for Tuesday, February 14, he emphasizes that “at the various panels of the event we will have the opportunity to listen to some of the ‘unseen heroes’ of this daily effort”.

The minister underlines that “the progress we have already recorded is reflected both in the daily life of all citizens and in the numbers. The tripling of digital services – from 501 to over 1,500 – has generated almost a hundredfold increase in digital transactions with the State. And precisely this exponential increase from 8.8 million digital transactions in 2018 to 772 million in 2022 translates into over 100 queues saved every year by an average citizen.

However, we do not want our event to function simply as an account, but we aspire to be an image from the near future – how, that is, we envision gov.gr in its final version. Our goal is limited: at the end of the next four years, we want all the interactions of citizens and businesses with the state to be digital.”

He even ends by saying that “through the experience we have gained and by utilizing all the tools we have developed in our first four years, we are convinced that this goal is completely achievable. After all, the great response of citizens to every new digital service we implement is for us the biggest motivation to continue digitally, improving every aspect of their daily life”.

It is recalled that gov.gr started its operation with 501 services and has reached 1,514. Citizens can now find the public service they want easily and quickly without any effort.

In the Single Digital Portal, 11 categories are available, including citizen and everyday life, agriculture and animal husbandry, justice, education, business activity, property and taxation, work and insurance, family, culture and sports, health welfare, military service. It hosts all the digital services of the ministries, agencies, organizations, independent authorities and regions of the State, which are already provided via the Internet.

It should be mentioned that the current searches on gov.gr concern the start of an individual business that can be done digitally, without the interested party needing to pre-register with the General Commercial Register (GEMI) and the National Social Security Agency (eEFKA), the transfer of a private vehicle of use, according to which the process of transferring the ownership of the vehicle can be carried out completely digitally, without the need for a physical presence in any public service, in the citizen’s box, i.e. in a digital mailbox where the citizen can find documents issued online on the portal or documents issued in a second year by an institution through the portal.

It should be added that there is also the possibility of storing digital documents, such as identity, driver’s license, disability card, unemployment card in the gov.gr wallet. The digital documents that can be stored on the mobile phone issued through gov.gr are fully equivalent to the paper documents, for any legal use within the Greek territory.
