“Ms. Gerovasili either did not understand what she voted for with the SYRIZA Law that abolished the protection of the first residence or, much worse, she pretends that she did not understand, leading her party into a statement that attempts to completely distort reality,” he says in a statement the Minister of Justice Kostas Tsiaras and adds: “So I repeat so that it is clear to everyone: With the SYRIZA law, the protection of the first residence was abolished from February 2019”.
Mr. Tsiaras in his statement notes that “the New Democracy government established new tools and additional possibilities to protect the first home and suspend auctions for the particularly sensitive social group of vulnerable debtors” and emphasizes that “by this government’s decision, all the auctions, protecting all borrowers, throughout the lockdown due to the pandemic”.
