The amount that has already been paid to the beneficiaries for the heating allowance amounts to 242.8 million euros, while there remains one more scheduled payment on April 28.

According to what was stated by the Minister of Finance, Christos Staikouras, “the Ministry of Finance, consistent with the schedule it had announced, proceeded yesterday, February 22, to pay a total amount of 54.8 million euros to 404,157 beneficiaries of the heating allowance.

Thus, the total amount that has been allocated, until today, for the heating allowance of the winter season 2022-2023 reaches 242.8 million euros, while a new payment will follow until April 28″.

At the same time, he noted that “in the current period, the heating allowance, after increasing the granted amount and the perimeter of beneficiaries, covers the majority of households that will consume heating oil, natural gas and the other subsidized forms of fuel.

At the same time, the cost of heating oil is reduced for consumers, thanks to the subsidy at the pump, which continues until 31 March 2023 and amounts to 12 cents per liter (15 cents, including VAT).”

And he concluded, “with these two, targeted, measures, with a total budget cost of 520 million euros, the Government confirms, in practice, once again that it effectively and bravely supports the citizens – especially the most vulnerable – against the difficulties they have caused , internationally, the multi-level, exogenous crises”.
