Before the judicial authorities in Brussels, Eva Kaili’s partner Francesco Giorgi, who has been in prison in Saint-Gilles for two months, is expected to appear to testify again.

His lawyer arrived in court earlier and according to the prosecution, Giorgi’s hearing will take place today.

According to reports and as the process and investigation progress, his role in Qatargate was even more pivotal than initially estimated.

That is why his detention is expected to be extended.

At the same time, the request for exemption of the investigating judge Michel Clez is pending. He has refused to recuse himself from the case and it is up to the Justices to ultimately decide how to handle it, as the remaining judges on the panel will vote on whether to agree to recuse their colleague or whether he will remain in place.

Last week he had not participated because it was the day the exemption was requested. There was a margin for him to decide himself whether he wanted to opt out and remove himself from the process, which he refused to do. So now it’s up to his colleagues to decide to give a definitive answer.

At the same time, the statements of various witnesses are ongoing, as well as the people who are in custody. As well as the information that came to “light” on Antonio Pancheri, who is the “repentant” of the case and all of this must be cross-referenced.

So the process is expected to be long. The involvement of other people in the Qatargate affair cannot be ruled out with the hearings and inquiries continuing.
