The Brussels Court of Appeal will examine tomorrow morning whether the Eva Kaili will remain in custody or not. This was confirmed to APE-MPE by a representative of the Brussels Court of Appeal, pointing out that it is a “closed-door” hearing.

Tomorrow, moreover, the Court of Appeal will consider the release request of the Belgian MEP, Mark Tarabella.

It is recalled that after the decision of the pre-trial council, on February 16, to extend Eva Kaili’s pre-trial detention by two months, her lawyer Sven Marie filed an appeal, which according to the procedure is heard within 15 days. The advocate of Mr. Tarabella had done the same.

Eva Kaili’s defense will request her release from prison with an electronic bracelet. In case the decision of the Court of Appeal is negative, Ms. Kaili will remain in custody for two months.

Finally, the Brussels prosecutor’s office confirmed to APE-MPE that the partner of Eva Kaili and accused in the corruption case at the European Parliament, Francesco Giorgi, was released today from the prisons of Saint-Gilles with an electronic bracelet. F. Giorgi was arrested on December 9 and released, following the decision of the Pre-Trial Council on February 23.
