The general secretary of the Communist Party of Greece, Dimitris Koutsoubas, was at the scene of the tragic accident in Tempi this morning, and he made the following statement:

“There are no words to express our condolences to the relatives of these innocent victims of this great tragedy.

This is not an accident or accident, this is a prescribed crime. The workers themselves in the OSE, in the railways, the KKE had denounced it from the floor of the Parliament, trade unionists of the PAME for months. It is a prescribed crime.

Responsibilities must be attributed. And the state and governmental and private company and individual responsibilities that exist. All. They should not be out of date, they should not be forgotten. We will fulfill this role from now on.

Because as long as there are, as today, security systems that do not work when science and technology offer them, they are available in the 21st century, as long as there are not sufficient personnel, trained, qualified, certified, with correct working relationships.

As long as there are no checks, there is no coordination, there is no monitoring of the progress of the infrastructure, maintenance of these railway lines, signaling and so much more.

As long as there is the infamous liberalization of the market, the privatizations, the continuous division of the OSE of TRAINOSE and the sale to a private company that all the governments of the ND and SYRIZA and PASOK have carried out, all these years, resulting in the existence of this the tragic situation and to constantly pay new victims.

Be warned: The knife must reach the bone. There are enormous responsibilities and these are the ones that must be revealed here and now. This is what we will do, no more, the anger, the indignation of our people that has overflowed, should be expressed through political choices and organized struggle again, claiming the self-evident.

That is, the development and protection of the life and well-being of the Greek people and not the profits of a few companies”.
