Confrontation New Democracy and MeRA 25 was noted on Tuesday, after the appearance of the MP of the Left party Maria Apatzidis on the floor of the Parliament with a T-shirt for Tempi that read “57 dead, 156 hypocrites”.

“Dangerous, vulgar and unacceptable act of defiance”

“At a time when citizens are asking everyone to be serious, responsible and honest, some people continue to use the tragic accident in Tempe for petty political expediencies,” ND commented in a statement.

As the ruling party notes, “MeRA25 MP Maria Apatzidis, who two weeks ago had called the Government a ‘murderer’, went up to the dais of Parliament today wearing a T-shirt that read ’57 dead, 156 hypocrites.’ This is yet another dangerous, vulgar and unacceptable act of extremism, which has no place in the temple of our Republic. We call on the Secretary of MeRA25 to condemn the specific actions in practice, as all the parties of the Greek Parliament must do.”

“A shirt with a message of protest”

“A t-shirt with a protest message (much milder than what people out there are saying) is labeled a dangerous and vulgar act of extremism by the ruling party’s Press Office!” answered MeRA 25.

“To inform New Democracy about some truly dangerous, vulgar and unacceptable acts of extremism:

  • Ignoring the warnings of the workers by the OSE and Hellenic Train managers.
  • The ignoring of the warnings of MeRA25 MPs by the responsible Minister.
  • The brutal repression of the people’s demonstrations by Minister ProPo.
  • The government agents’ attempt to turn black and white into black and white and convince us that everything was working perfectly and responsibility for the crime in Tempe has only one station master.

“If the designation “hypocrites” bothers the MPs of the New Democracy, there is a way to withdraw it: vote against the criminal government and together with the people demand the accountability of those really responsible for the tragedy” concludes MeRA 25.
