The Turkish opposition newspaper Sozcu speaks of a “scandal”, citing the wishes of the Turkish government (Erdogan and Cavusoglu) to Greece (Mitsotakis and Dendia respectively) for the national holiday of March 25, the day the Greek revolution against the Turkish yoke is celebrated.

As SKAI correspondent Manolis Kostidis reports from Istanbulthe newspaper Sozcu characteristically states: “Scandal! Congratulations from the Embassy of Turkey in Greece. The embassy congratulated on March 25, which is known as the day of massacre of the Turks.

Reactions from retirees as well

At the same time, retired members of the Turkish army and supporters of the “Blue Homeland” also expressed their opposition to the wishes.

In particular, retired admiral Cem Gourdeniz called the Turkish embassy’s post “shameful”.

He says in detail on Twitter: “Our embassy in Athens is celebrating the liberation of Greece from Turkish rule. It’s a shame. No reciprocity. Greece does not broadcast similar messages on Turkey’s National Holidays. Then why does our embassy do it?

March 1821, which is celebrated as the day of independence from Greece, reminds us of the massacres that took place against the Turks. Gangs besieged Tripoli, which held an important strategic role in the Morea. The barbaric murder of tens of thousands of Turks, Jews and Albanians is a black spot in history, known as the “Tripolitsa Massacre”.
