His commitment to fight so that illegal wiretapping, the violation of human rights, attacks on independent authorities and the instrumentalization of justice will soon become a bad memory, the president of PASOK-Movement for Change Nikos Androulakis, speaking at the debate in the Plenary of the European Parliament (EC) in Brussels, on the subject of the rule of law in the EU and in particular in Greece, Spain and Malta.

The entire intervention of N. Androulakis in the Plenary Session of the EP is as follows:

“It saddens me that my last intervention in the EP is about the rule of law in Greece. As well as the defiant attitude of the ND government which avoided meeting the committee on individual liberties, insulting above all and first the Greek people. That is why I pledge that I will fight with all my strength, so that illegal wiretapping, violation of human rights, attacks on independent authorities and instrumentalization of justice will soon become a bad memory. I believe that the rule of law is the first and foremost condition for the well-being of citizens.

Finally, in saying goodbye, I want to thank the colleagues who worked together for a union of solidarity and perspective, for a democratic and self-reliant Europe that is at the forefront of protecting human rights and the environment.

We all have a duty to fight for the Europe of the people, to overcome every obstacle of powerful economic and geopolitical interests that want Europe weak and manageable.
