Statements on the issue of the energy crisis and the relief of households are expected to be made later today by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis.
At 12.00 noon, the Minister of Environment and Energy, Costas Skrekas will talk about the new support measures for households and businesses from the effects of the international energy crisis.
These new measures come in addition to what Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis had announced during the debate on the Budget in Parliament, which concerned consumers and businesses for the month of December.
“Our interventions will continue for the first months of 2022 if this is needed and I estimate that it will be needed,” the prime minister had stated at the time.
What is in force today and was announced by the Prime Minister, is the additional increase of state aid in electricity tariffs for the month of December and respectively in social tariffs and vulnerable households.
Specifically for the month of December, the state subsidy on electricity bills increased, for all consumers connected to the Low Voltage. The amount of support was raised from 130 euros / MWh, to 165 euros / MWh for the first 300 kWh and the subsidy now amounted to 49.5 euros per month in December.
For the beneficiaries of the Social Housing Tariff (CTO), the support in December increased to 185 euros / MWh from 150 euros / MWh and the amount of the subsidy amounted to 55.5 euros.
Second, the discount on gas bills increased by 40% in December, which meant a discount for all household gas consumers, to 34 euros per thermal MWh in December.
Household consumers had an additional reduction of an average of 15 euros per thermal MWh from the suspension of network usage charges for November and December. The total discount for households was set at 49 euros per MWh in December.
And thirdly, as far as farmers are concerned, most of the coverage from the adjustment clause in the agricultural energy tariffs was from August to December.
