The Kalavritas the president of PASOK-Movement for Change, Nikos Androulakis, has been visiting since the morning. Upon his arrival in the mountain town of Achaia, he stated that the central goal of his program is to create good jobs, to create a new regional development that will keep young people in the region.

In his meeting with the mayor of Kalavryta, Thanasis Papadopoulos and Nikos Androulakis he referred to the acute problem of private debt and commented on the banks’ decision to “freeze” mortgage interest rates for a year, while criticizing Mr. Mitsotakis for how he made Pontius Pilate and shows what interests he serves.

“For two years now, the difference between the interest rate on deposits and the interest rate on mortgages has been galloping. We proposed to the government to tax the banks’ excess profits, but allowed them to make record profits in 2022. They are coming a few weeks before the national election and they are making a decision, which proves that they could have done a lot more in the two years that the people came faced with the reduction of their purchasing power”, said Mr. Androulakis.

At the same time, he criticized SYRIZA for disregarding the intelligence of the borrowers, as it sold their loans “to the crows of the funds and New Democracy did not protect the first residence”. “That’s why I ask the Greek people for a strong mandate for a decision to change against the bad texts. Against political forces, which are unrepentant and their priority is not to serve the national and collective interest, but oligarchs and banks at the expense of the interests of the Greek people”, underlined the president of PASOK-KINAL. Afterwards, Mr. Androulakis paid tribute to the dead of the Kalavryta Holocaust. He recalled that as an MEP together with the late Manolis Glezos they supported the patriotic issue of German reparations.

“The European peoples should not forget their history. Because memory is a guard against these heinous acts, which violate human rights. We must not forget what Nazism is and what neo-Nazism is today. For the German reparations, the decision of the Hellenic Parliament on April 17, 2019 is a framework and within it we must fight with political and legal means to raise the awareness of the German public opinion and force the German government to accept the just demands that the Hellenism but also other peoples, who were targeted by Nazism and suffered atrocities during the Second World War” noted Mr. Androulakis.
