Today and tomorrow the debate on the new supplementary regulation of the Ministry of the Interior that closes any “window” of questioning about the block in the Kasidiari party to be introduced in the Parliament is transferred to the Parliament today and tomorrow. Three days before the Parliament was closed for Easter and then dissolved for the upcoming elections, the unprecedented statement of the vice-president of the Supreme Court, Christos Tzanerikos, which characterized the amendment as photographic, set fire to the political and public debate.

Government and parties although starting from “common starting point” of the admission and targeting, to keep the Nazi party Kasidiaris out of Parliament and every fascist formation, which is the successor state of the condemned criminal organization Golden Dawn, have already taken a fighting position, as today the “second reading” will be held in the competent parliamentary committee » of the bill that includes the amendment in question and is expected to be voted on in the Plenary Session of the Parliament tomorrow.

In fact, based on the data so far, apart from the ND and PASOK, which was photographed with its statement that it will support the regulation, the other parties stand in opposition.

The position of the vice-president of the Supreme Court, Christos Tzanerikos, who questioned the government’s intentions, served as a combustible material in the already charged political debate.

“The regulation, which is introduced with the amendment in question, despite its apparent rationale, i.e. the “shielding of any decision of the Supreme Court” on the declaration or non-parties, (…) so that it cannot be disputed, it captures, photographically, the mistrust and lack of trust in me, on the part of the government, which had the relevant legislative initiative, regarding the exercise of my discretion to define the (five-member) composition of the department, of which I am presidents” argued Mr. Tzanerikos, provoking the fierce reaction of the Minister of the Interior, Makis Voridis.

The legislative initiative of the Government shields the judgment of the Justice, whatever it may be. It is emphasized that the composition of the A1 Department is a given and is in no way affected by the governmental legislative initiative. In any case, it is self-evident that in democratic states the legislation belongs to the competence of the Parliament and not to the choice of each judge” emphasized the Minister in his response to the spikes of the vice-president of the Supreme Court.

According to government sources, the amendment for the Kasidiari party contains two changes compared to the original regulation. “On the one hand, the proclamation will be made not by a subset of the A1 section of the Supreme Court, but by the full composition, i.e. by 10 judges”, they said characteristically, and “on the other hand, the second change is that memoranda for documentation will be able to be submitted to the Supreme Court in view of the declaration by other judicial authorities or by any administrative authority”, added the government officials, emphasizing that the justification for the amendment lies in the fact that more guarantees of independent and correct judgment are provided, when the judgment is made by all the members of the department”. The same sources also underlined the fact that now “documentation for the assistance of the actual leadership should also be provided by the agencies that hold the relevant data».

SYRIZA, with a harsh statement it issued, objected to the government’s handling of the matter that arose, characterizing them as amateurs, while noting that “after together with PASOK, it voted for an amendment, which unfortunately turned out to be a fiasco, today it comes to correct the mistake with a bigger mistake” and adds

The only thing that Mr. Mitsotakis achieves with these constitutional stunts is to give anti-system characteristics and inflate the percentages of the extreme right».

PASOK is also talking about the government’s tentative legislative regulation, however, taking pictures of its support for the amendment on Tuesday in the Parliament, stressing in a statement that “We will contribute creatively with a view to the defense of the Republic and as recently stated by the President of PASOK-Movement for Change, Nikos Androulakis, we will we are fighting so that the neo-Nazi formation does not find a place in the Parliament”.

The KKE is also against the additional regulation for the Kasidiaris party.
