The… onion is at the center of political controversy in Turkey as Kemal Kilicdaroglu calls out the rise in its price, pointing to Tayyip Erdogan as responsible.

As SKAI’s correspondent, Manolis Kostidis, reports from Istanbul, Kilicdaroglu focuses on accuracy, which has become red hot in recent years in Turkey.

Speaking via video, from his… famous kitchen, Kilicdaroglu stated:

“Be sure that they do not respect their fellow citizens. Because they had nothing left, no narrative. Actually that is our agenda. I repeat, this is the citizen’s matter. They know that when I come to power, democracy will come, money will start to flow, investments will come, the exchange rate will fall, purchasing power will increase and prosperity will come.

“As simple as that, all this will surely happen. But if he (Erdogan) stays in power, this onion in my hand will go to 100 pounds! Today it costs 30 pounds. A simple onion is, an onion. Aren’t they ashamed? The people were forced into a dry onion,” said the candidate for the presidency, Kemal Kilicdaroglu.
