Alexis Tsipras, speaking on the Star’s main news bulletin, argued, among other things, that Mr. Mitsotakis “by saying “self-reliance” is saying that even if he comes first we will go to second and third elections and as many as are necessary for him to have self-reliance”
“Citizens must know that if we want political change in the country, this can only happen in one way: The ND of Mr. Mitsotakis is defeated, and the defeat of the ND means the victory of SYRIZA. A prerequisite for political change and progressive governance is SYRIZA’s first place in the elections. There is no other trwhere”, emphasized Alexis Tsipras in an interview on the main news bulletin of the Star television station and the journalist Mara Zachareas.
He repeated that he has ruled it out “government of losers”. “I stand by this, we don’t do grocery shopping here, it’s a question of both politics and moral legalization”he said characteristically.
The president of SYRIZA PS commented that Mr. Mitsotakis “by saying “self-reliance” he is saying that even if he comes out first we will go to second and third elections and as many as it takes for him to have self-reliance. But now I see that he is starting to turn things around, he says he will get the exploratory mandate if the ND comes first, so he will use the privilege based on the Constitution to form a government”.
Mr. Tsipras said that SYRIZA says that the place needs stability and we don’t need to go to second and third elections, but cooperation governments based on a programmatic agreement. He noted that the citizen should know that “if Mr. Mitsotakis comes first, it will be the ND that will follow the process – as Mr. Mitsotakis states – to form a government with Mr. Mitsotakis and his policy.” Mitsotakis because the first party has a weighty role in the negotiations”. He noted that “if SYRIZA is the first party, we will have political change and a government of progressive cooperation because we appeal to all progressive forces.”
To the question what will happen if Mr. Androulakis insists and does not accept Mr. Tsipras as prime ministerthe president of SYRIZA argued that “everything that is said before the election will be very different from what will be decided after the election. Before the elections there is and will be a confrontation, but after the elections we will make decisions about the future of the country”. “I do not believe” write down, “that there is a case after the elections if SYRIZA becomes the first party and there is a possibility of a government of progressive cooperation, that the third party will have the possibility to pose such dilemmas, because quite simply they will have before them the version of a repeated electoral process in which will shrink electorally.”
Asked regarding the attitude of MeRA25 and if he thinks that Mr. Varoufakis will change his opinion after the elections, he said that he does not know “what will be the correlations of the ballot box, as to whether or not the contribution of all progressive parties, and Mr. Varoufakis, and even the KKE is required”. He added that there are two versions: “There is the version of participating in a government scheme and there is the version of tolerance, of supporting a government in order to implement political change and not go to second and third elections.” He added that “there are many alternatives”, “the dilemma will also apply to Mr. Varoufakis” which he stated earlier: “They will know that if there is a perspective based on the numbers and with SYRIZA first (i.e. to form a progressive government of cooperation), do you think that Mr. Varoufakis or Mr. Androulakis has no sense of self-preservation and they will want shall we go to second and third elections where they will be reduced to the grindstone of the two major parties?” Because, go on, “the second election with enhanced proportionality will be a referendum essentially, it will be a conflict between two. Why should they accept it?”
