Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan gave an interview in which he referred to Barbarossa on Tuesday night.

As SKAI correspondent Manolis Kostidis reports from IstanbulErdogan talked about a new aircraft carrier, twice the size of the one the Turks built a while ago with the Spanish.

Characteristically, Erdogan emphasized in his interview: “The Anadolu ship has 1300 personnel. And with 1300 people, it will open to the blue seas in the Mediterranean and show the power of the Turk. But this is not enough. I have talks with the Spaniards, you know we built this ship together with the Spaniards.

“I am also talking to the English to build twice the size of this ship. That is, we will enlarge our aircraft carrier more as we need to increase our power in the seas. With God’s help the descendants of Barbarossa will show that they are worthy successors of Barbarossa”.

Erdogan: We will build unmanned submarines

At the same time, the Turkish president also announced a cooperation plan with England for the construction of submarines:

“All of Anadolu’s hull was built in Turkey’s shipyards. Today Turkey’s shipyards at the global level have reached an important point. Today they come from America and from Pakistan to build frigates. Like some others who say ‘maybe we can build an aircraft carrier in Turkey’.

Some others are looking at building submarines. Like England wants us to cooperate in submarine building. We have reached this point. We are taking another step in the issue of submarines. We are getting to the point where we will build an unmanned submarine. Technology is constantly renewing itself.”

Turkish analysts: The US with the F-16 kits gave Turkey a bakhchisi

Meanwhile, Turkish analysts call the US green light for Turkey’s F-16 communications kits a bakhshisi, but stress that the important fighter modernization program has remained frozen.

“So far there is no development on the package of the purchase of 40 F-16s and the modernization of the rest. There is an informal State Department briefing to Congress. There is nothing official. And this happens because there is no positive climate.

This is a bakhshisi a US holiday gift to Turkey for approving Finland’s NATO membership,” analysts say.
