The voices of the Turks against Tayyip Erdoğan for the state of the country’s economy are increasing. As the correspondent of SKAI, Manolis Kostidis, reports from Istanbul, queues are now being formed by people rushing to get some cheap meat and other goods whose prices have skyrocketed.

The presenter of Sozcu TV, Fatih Portakal commented that: “The increase in the price of meat does not stop. In any discount market there are huge queues as people try to buy some cheap meat.’

The report then shows images from the queues and hosts statements from the people who are there, desperately shouting:

– In the supermarkets, the meat reached 400 pounds, we cannot buy it. We are retired We don’t have such power and we are tortured. I’ve been waiting here and my legs are numb.

– Do you know what hunger means? Do you know what it means to not be able to buy products? These people here can’t even buy a kilo or two of minced meat. Do you know what that means? Where is the pride? With hunger there is no pride.

– I don’t deserve this, I’m not good to be here. I don’t deserve such a situation.

– But what is this rezili, what is this situation? And then they ask us for our vote. The state should do something. What should we do? I will wait to be called to get some meat.’
