The message of the president of PASOK-Movement of Change, who has been touring Lesbos since the morning
“I find it unimaginable what is happening on the internet, and not only, in the last few hours. Mr. Mitsotakis and Mr. Tsipras are absolutely responsible for the operation of a digital parastate, “hoodies”, digital gangs, that target personalities of people, who either consider that they are an obstacle to their plans or for other reasons of their own” he emphasized among other things the president of PASOK-Movement for Change, Nikos Androulakis during his tour of Lesvos, referring to the case of MEP Alexis Georgoulis and what has followed.
Mr. Androulakis noted in detail:
“The defense of human rights is a priority of every civilized society. So, I find it unimaginable what is happening on the internet, and not only, in the last few hours.
Mr. Mitsotakis and Mr. Tsipras are absolutely responsible for the operation of a digital parastate, “hoodies”, digital gangs, that target personalities of people, who they either consider to be in the way of their plans or for other reasons of their own.
I believe that every democrat and progressive citizen has a duty to stand against these inhumane practices. They are practices that do not deserve a European country. They do not deserve the Greece of Democracy, the Greece of the struggle for the Rule of Law. Therefore, we have a duty to stand up to all those who do not understand that many years have passed since the time when these practices were accepted. We have the power to oppose this digital parastate, which undermines all notions of the rule of law and human rights.”
Regarding the refugee-immigrant issue, Mr. Androulakis pointed out: “The top issue is the agreements we are making in relation to the immigration-refugee issue. I know the issue very well. Since 2015 I have also been involved as an MEP. We were the ones who started the project in Evros. But these political choices alone are not enough. Mr. Mitsotakis highlights the fence, because he cannot say that for four years he did not make efforts to revise the Dublin Regulation.
The Dublin Regulation designates the first country of entry as responsible for granting asylum. There were initiatives from the European Parliament to have a fair, new refugee policy, but they were frozen by Mr. Mitsotakis’ comrades in the Austrian presidency of Mr. Kurz.
For anyone who crosses the borders of the EU, the asylum application must be made in all the EU states. and not only the first country being responsible. Then there should be a permanent resettlement program based on fair criteria, countries’ population and economic status, and not begging for such programs.
This would be a comprehensive policy, which unfortunately has not been implemented.
The government of the New Democracy has responsibilities, because in order to get along with the right-wing governments of Europe that do not want the revision of Dublin, it made Pontius Pilate in the last four years.
So, on the one hand, we are against the policy that there are no borders at sea, which was implemented by Mr. Tsipras, on the other hand, we consider the strategy of our country not trying to revise the Dublin Regulation to be unthinkable.”
The President of PASOK-Movement for Change, referring to local government issues, emphasized:
“Surely the self-government has many problems. Especially the first grade needs more support. PASOK, as you know, is the party that gave life to self-government through its legislative initiatives. This is what we aspire to do in the future as well, because you come closer to the citizen and you must be able to serve him in the best possible way.”
