“Even the conclusion that the Mitsotakis government “ordered” on the Tempe accident exposes it multiple times. It highlights the responsibilities of Mitsotakis and Karamanlis and exposes the cover-up operation”, comments the head of Infrastructure and Transport of SYRIZA PS, Nikos Pappas.

Mr. Pappas notes that the conclusion, among other things, states that:

“- Remote control in the Larissa-Thessaloniki section was not working since July 2019.

– In Larissa, a local control panel was operating and not a remote control, as Mr. Gerapetritis insisted, while the station master only “saw” the train for 2.8 km from the Larissa exit and not for 12 km as the government said.

– The ETCS system, which was not completed under the responsibility of Karamanlis, could have prevented the collision of the two trains.

– The training of the fatal station master was incomplete and insufficient, while his reassignment was done poorly.”

Finally, the responsible head of SYRIZA states that “Mr. Mitsotakis cannot continue the cover-up. His responsibilities are heavy.”
